That's the title of the paper I finished today. I loved every minute of writing that paper. I know, I'm weird. The paper is for my Intercultural Communication class (one of my favorite classes of all time, along with my Editing class last semester), and I have to give a short presentation on it on Tuesday. I watched the film Hotel Rwanda and spent a lot of time researching the cultural conflicts between the Hutu and Tutsi people in Rwanda. Not quite an expert on the subject, but I'm getting there.
Tomorrow starts the last two weeks of school before finals. Know what that means? Paper and presentation due Tuesday. Article and video project due next Tuesday. Test next Wednesday. Paper due next Tuesday (almost done with that one). French oral exam next Wednesday. And then a take home final and a regular final the following week. I guess it's not too bad, but it will be a lot of work and a lot of studying. I can't wait to be done with this semester. It's been such a hard semester, but I'm so close to being done with school.
Part of it makes me nervous because it means I have to think about (drumroll, please)...my future. The word all college students are afraid to speak. Let's just stay in college forever. That sounds better than having to worry about anything.
Oh, to be a college student...that actually enjoys papers.
Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you might miss it.

The 1920s and Privileged Society
I actually enjoyed my American Institutions class today. We talked about the 1920s and how they transformed America. The invention of plastics, increased use of the Model T Ford, home telephones more than doubled. America became a consumer, urban nation. It just seems like a happy, romantic period. It was a time of change and opportunity. The top 5% of society controlled more than 33% of the nation's wealth. As we were talking about the top 5% of society, I happened to be on Facebook looking at pictures of my sorority sisters at a fraternity formal in Aspen, Colorado this past weekend. Pictures of people walking around the fancy-shmancy condos in robes, well-dressed young adults at a formal dinner and dance, etc. I finally admitted to myself that, okay, I am a privileged, white kid. Maybe it also has something to do with the elite of the Manhattan East-Siders in Gossip Girl, too. I am lucky to be a privileged East-Sider in Salt Lake City. Not to mention how excited I am to spend next summer in Europe and Africa!
Oh, to be a college student...with privileges.

Early in the morning
I always seem to start a blog in the wee hours of the morning. They always seem to last a few weeks, then I make them disappear. And a couple weeks later, I find myself wondering why. Then I go back to them, rekindle our relationship. Sounds like a boy... But this time, I couldn't find my old blog. So here I am starting a new one. I just want my college experience (though it's halfway over) to be documented in more than my personal diary.
Oh, to be a college student...that procrastinates sleeping.
